This is Where It Hurts

This is Where It Hurts

by Victor Oduogu

The sinking and freezing point of
uncertainty,
Where the despairing future looms evenly,
The past regurgitates and regrets bloom and blossom,
The torrents of the present rage beyond taming powers,
Echoes of dreams lose melody,
And each sunrise offers no remedy.
This chaotic point hurts,
The liquid pain surging the veins fails to revert.
How do you set your lofty dreams in motion?
When life's storms crashes your will without caution,
Everything morphs into nothingness,
Nothingness builds a castle of emptiness,
Your universe stands still,
The moon and the stars lose their sparks,
An endless vacuum life in your heart drills.
They say—this too shall pass away,
Envy of others press your chest,
Burning tears blind your sight,
At this point, you crave to give up,
But within, hope softly whispers upbeat,
And you have to sail on against the wind,
This point hurts without caution and mercy.
