Collected Poems

by David Zimmerman

1
Imagine having Mozart for a friend
Composing concerts for you to play.
Some things are simply beyond our ken.
To one like me, who cannot even sing,
His music is magic creating itself.

2
If all the help I need at the end
Is a careful editing
I’ll die a happy, proud man full of words.

3
Tell your dying Mother everything
And if there is some part of it
You're not sure you want her to hear,
Be sure and wait ‘til she's asleep.

4
The truth is only as strong
as our ability to tolerate it.

5
Do not allow the beautiful
To pass undesired
It’s what their looks depend on
