A Bee Gees Frame of Mind

A Bee Gees Frame of Mind

by Nikki Hanna

A polite rain lands on the windshield
As I consider if my heart has healed
Emotions lay hidden for so long that
No feelings stir from a Bee Gees song

I saw them there all full of cheer
Her glittery dress like a chandelier
A fancy fur of unknown origin
A designer dress she looked good in

I lived in a world of discontent
When I was his before he went
Today I’m whole, full, complete
With her, there’s no need to compete

I gave him to her as a present
Living with him wasn’t pleasant
Revenge the motive because they cheated
Rage my master for what he did

Her back was turned when our eyes met
And I could see his discontent
I knew him well and I could tell
Regret festered through his hell

If eyes could talk, his would say
“I should have never gone away”
If mine could speak, I would lament
“I’m sorry for your discontent”

How do you know forgiveness lives?
When you face the truth and nothing gives
I ponder deep and then I know
I forgave him long ago

Feelings floundered there between us
Rich with emotions tender yet callous
How do you know when love is gone?
When no feelings stir from a Bee Gees song
